One of the issues that people have feasted on in recent days is the sudden death of Tagbo Umuike, a close friend of Pop star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido. Tagbo’s passing on would have ordinarily been considered a loss to just his family, but the incident has since assumed a controversial dimension and attracted public interest due to the fact that actress, Caroline Danjuma, alleged that singer, Davido had some explanations to make about the circumstances surrounding his friend’s demise. She has consistently alleged Tagbo was last seen in company with the singer. She has also insisted the singer dropped Tagbo’s corpse at a General Hospital’s entrance and took to his heels.
The police have since invited the OBO crooner, Davido, for questioning during which he denied knowing anything about Tagbo’s death.
Meanwhile, anxiety may have mounted in public as the case, which many had thought was close to being resolved, has taken a new dimension with the police and the accused, Davido, now at each other’s throat over the controversial matter.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgar Imohimi, revealed to journalists that the report of an autopsy carried out on the deceased showed he died of suffocation. The result of the investigation carried out by the police also contradicted Davido’s earlier denial that he knew nothing about Tagbo’s death. Police investigation indicates the Hilux vehicle used to convey Tagbo’s corpse was recovered at Davido’s Lekki home and it was also alleged his dead body was dropped at the hospital on the orders of the singer. In a bid to wash himself clean, however, Davido eventually opened up to counter police claim by releasing a footage of all that transpired on that fateful night. While, the public is expecting what would be the next line of action by the police, Davido’s fans are already exhibiting fears that their idol may be jailed, if found wanting in the controversial issue.
