APC chieftain assures Aiyedatiwa of block vote in Akure

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Dare Aliu, has assured Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of block vote in the Akure axis in next month’s primary election of the party.

Aliu, who is Director on Diaspora Matters for the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers (LACO-FS) gave the assurance in a statement issued on Saturday, after a mega rally by the organisation in Akure.

In the statement issued through LACO-FS State Information Director, Kayode Fasua, Aliu noted that he and key figures of the APC had interfaced with political stakeholders in Akure South and Akure North federal constituency.

He said they were impressed with enthusiasm shown towards the aspiration of the governor to continue for another four years.

“Without equivocation, APC members in Akure are impressed with the performance of the governor in less than four months of assuming office.

“In the first place, Governor Aiyedatiwa came in and cleared backlogs of unpaid salaries and other benefits to public workers, and went the extra mile to restore free bus shuttles for school children across the state.

“Almost simultaneously, the governor mobilised all contractors back to site and also released a sum of N2 billion as loans and requisite grants to petty traders, peasant farmers and the youth, in need of empowerment,” he lauded.

Aliu, a former chairman of the Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency, who, last year, defected from the People’s Democratic Party to the APC, noted that “It will be a hard sell for our party to leave a performing governor for a candidate who is yet to be tested.”

At the Akure rally of the LACO-FS, however, the group’s Convener, Oladipupo Okeyomi, expressed satisfaction with the endorsement of Aiyedatiwa in Akure North, Akure South, and Ifedore council areas, being the three places of touch in the grand finale of rallies held across the 18 local government areas.

Complementing him, the State Director-General of the LACO-FS, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, also expressed satisfaction with the large turn-out of party loyalists.

The State Deputy Director General (Central) and the Director-General for Akure LACO-FS branch, Femi Fadairo, also on the occasion assured of landslide victory for the governor in their domains.

Other dignitaries at the mega rally included Senator Ajayi Borrofice, Mrs Fola Vincent, State Director, Women Affairs; Muyiwa Ogunyemi (Eyiyato), State Director, Students Affairs; Mrs. Olufunke Adu, State Director, Market, and Mrs Toyin Akinmoyo, Deputy Director, Market, all of the LACO-FS.
