End APC’s misrule in 2019, Makarfi tells Nigerians

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has asked Nigerians to vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2019 elections to protest the hardships and sufferings they are being subjected to by the ruling party.

Makarfi said that the PDP was ready to return to power to emancipate Nigerians from the clutches of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and his party, the APC.

He described the APC as a “party of denials,” saying it had yet to fulfill all it promised Nigerians during the 2015 campaigns, adding that for God to liberate Nigerians from APC and Buhari’s “hardship induced governance,” they must come under the PDP’s umbrella and vote for its return to power in 2019.

Makarfi, who spoke in Osogbo, Osun State, also accused the ruling party of reneging on the promises it voluntarily made to Nigerians before it came into power.

He declared that Nigerians must return the PDP to power in 2019 to protest the frustrating situation they were currently passing through, adding that the country had not witnessed any meaningful development under the APC leadership because the party had decided not to accept responsibility or admit mistakes.

Makarfi said, “For us in PDP, we had our flaws and we did not fail to admit them. I have apologised for our wrongdoings. I am using this medium to apologise again. We are sincerely sorry for all our wrongs.

“But just look through the actions of APC, you will discover the party has never taken responsibility for anything. The brooms have never swept and cannot sweep. So, I urge Nigerians to be ready for us. The ruling party is campaigning for our return to power in 2019 already with all the problems it has created. PDP shall return to power in 2019.

“There is still space under the umbrella. The space is enough to accommodate all interests and opinions. All we need to do is to agree and be dedicated to our party’s cause. In Osun here, we must work together to return PDP to power next year.”

While also apologising to PDP members,  who had left the party, Makarfi asked them to return to the party, saying, “PDP has asked for forgiveness; we have apologised to our members and to Nigerians. They should return to the umbrella. The broom is no longer sweeping well. It (broom) has never swept anyway. With the PDP, there will be full governance. Why there is no development in the country is because we have a government and party of denials. They (APC) always find excuses to give, they don’t accept mistakes.”

Lamenting the sufferings of Nigerians under the APC administration, Markafi asked Nigerians to seek succour under the umbrella of the PDP by voting out the APC. “Nigerians have suffered enough and God will emancipate them by returning us (PDP) in 2019. So, I call on Nigerians to take shade under our umbrella, because the broom has already failed us.”

Makarfi also said that the PDP would only reclaim Osun State from the APC next year once chieftains and members of the party in the state reunited and worked together.

He accused Governor Rauf Aregbesola of misrule, saying this was the reason people in Osun West Senatorial District voted the party out during the bye-election on
July 8.

The PDP national chairman, however, noted that the victory of Senator Ademola Adeleke during the bye-election was significant to the PDP, saying it offered the opposition party an opportunity to reinvent itself and return to power in the state in 2018.

Makarfi said, “Osun West showed the way for the PDP to reinvent itself. There is strength in our coming together. All of you (PDP chieftains) contributed money for us to eat and to drink, that is good. If we go our different ways, we cannot make it.

“We must all come together to capture Osun State from the misrule of the APC . The people are looking up to the PDP to emancipate them from their suffering and that is why we must come together.”
