APC fixes zonal congress for March 26, postpones national convention indefinitely

The All Progressives Congress has fixed its zonal congress for March 26 and has postponed its national convention indefinitely.

The ruling party disclosed this in a letter to the Independent Electoral Commission on Monday as it called on the electoral body to monitor the zonal exercise accordingly.

The letter was co-signed by Governor Mai Mala Buni and Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, the national chairman and secretary, Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee respectively.

The national convention was initially slated for Saturday, February 26, 2022, but the ruling party has eventually suspended the national exercise until after the completion of the zonal congresses.

The letter titled ‘Notice for the conduct if zonal congress’ reads, “This notice supersedes our earlier notice for National Convention referenced APC/NHDQ/INEC/019/22/14 this is predicated on the evaluation of our Party Constitution.”

“In furtherance to Article 85 of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) and compliance with Section 126 of our Party Constitution, we hereby write to notify the Commission that our great Party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has scheduled to hold its Zonal Congresses on Saturday 26th March, 2022.

” Kindly arrange for your officials to monitor the exercise accordingly.”
