The governor Buni-led Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Commitee will meet on Wednesday at the Buhari House national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, Abuja, to ratify the recently inaugurated Appeals Committee for the congresses.

The Point reports that the meeting is expected to have all the governors in the committee and other members in attendance, because matters to be deliberated on are vital for the success of the party and the congresses.

Inside sources disclosed that the CECPC would also consider other issues including the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election and its campaign council headed by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma.

The source said, “The meeting on Wednesday is a crucial one. I am aware that three governors who are members of the CECPC including the chairman, governor Buni and other top hierarchy will be in attendance.”

Recall that the APC has been in controversy over the legality of the CECPC, following the Supreme Court judgment on the Ondo State governorship election case between PDP’s Eyitayo Jegede and Rotimi Akeredolu of APC which gave the party a slim victory of 4 – 3 split decision.

There had been dissenting voices within the ruling party. Some were of the opinion that the CECPC has no legal issues while others expressed fears that the party escaped losing the case by the whiskers and as such demanded for the dissolution of the CECPC or stepping aside of the Yobe State governor to allow the party conduct a convention that will produce duly elected executives.

Meanwhile, the CECPC has received accolades from party members and loyalists who attributed the defections of high profile members of the PDP to APC to the hard work of governor Buni and his team.
