Artisan in trouble for allegedly duping client in Osun

The Police in Osun State have arraigned a 39-year-old borehole driller, Omilana Saheed Opeyemi, at a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo, for alleged N350,000 fraud.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Adeoye Kayode told the court that the defendant committed the offence on November 16, 2022 at about 7:30 pm at Kobo n’ Gbogboe Area, Osogbo.

He alleged that the defendant obtained cash sum of N350,000 from his client, Akindele Folake after he promised to use the money to drill borehole for her but failed to do so.

The prosecutor told the court that the defendant stole the sum of N350,000, property of the female complainant.

The defendant, slammed with three count-charge, pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

The offences are said to contravene sections 419, 249(D) and 383(1) punishable under section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap. 34 Vol. II laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

Counsel to the defendant, Taiwo Awokunle, prayed the court to admit the accused person to bail in most liberal terms.

Magistrate, A.K Ajala granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with a surety in like sum.

The matter was adjourned till February 15, 2023 for hearing.
