As COSON bids Ras Kimono farewell

…his remains to lie-in-state August 23

The remains of the late rub-a-dub master and reggae icon, Ras Kimono, will on Thursday, August 23, be laid in state at the magnificent COSON House as part of the activities leading up to his burial on August 25.

According to a statement by TOP Entertainment, this event would precede the movement of the remains of the reggae star by a motorcade to Asaba, the capital of Delta State, for the activities leading to his burial on Saturday August 25, in his home town, Onicha Olona, about 20 kilometers from Asaba.

Friends and fans wishing to pay their last respect or view Kimono’s body are, therefore, requested to be at COSON House, 41 Oluwaleimu Street, off Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos at 9.00 am on Thursday, August 23 for the lying-in- state, which will last for about one hour only. Following the lying in state, a strong delegation of the COSON leadership and officials; members of the family, friends, other entertainment industry personalities and the media will accompany the body to Asaba.

Before the lying-in-state on Thursday, COSON House, will on Wednesday, August 22, witness a super classy event in honour of the great reggae toaster.

The sleek red-carpet event, a tribute night like no other, will climax the week-long programme of the funeral for the massively beloved music legend, who passed on at the Lagoon Hospital, Ikoyi, Lagos, on June 10, 2018.

Speaking on the Tribute Night, COSON Head of Public Affairs, Mr. Chibueze Moses Okereke, said, “The event will be strictly by invitation. The invitation cards are already in circulation. We know that people from all walks of life would wish to attend this big event, especially as the sleek tribute night is being personally produced by the COSON Chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji, Nigeria’s undisputed master of special events.

“Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate everyone. So, if you get the IV, please, honour the event because it means that you belong to a select group,” he said.

Also speaking about the forthcoming Red Carpet Tribute Night in honour of the great Ras Kimono, the COSON General Manager, Mr. Chinedu Chukwuji, said, “Ras Kimono was not just a COSON member, he was a 100 per cent committed COSON member, totally dedicated to the COSON cause.

“As a hyper-creative person, he fought against anything that would destroy COSON, as he saw the organisation as a watershed development in our country and an important legacy for the Nigerian creative industry.

“No one should forget that until he passed on, Ras Kimono was a key member of the COSON Board and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with our Chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji, through every challenge. Chief Okoroji was one of the last persons Kimono spoke to on his sick bed, before he passed on.

“The COSON Board he left behind has held a special meeting in his honour and has instructed that at the magnificent COSON House that Kimono contributed to build, this one of a kind Nigerian artiste must be honoured and celebrated. All hands are on deck at COSON, the organisation that Ras Kimono loved with all his heart, to ensure that Kimono is buried like the king that he was.”

Olamide back on the block with Moti gbana

For all you may care, Olamide has gone through the vicissitudes of life during the current year, but also it would all appear as nothing to raise the alarm about, considering how pretty much what the artiste has been all about. Flooding the market and eventually, that one track that has got listeners going crazy.

After the initial excitement that trailed releases like “Kana” and “Science Student”, everything seemed to have gone cold. But in the true Baddo fashion, his latest release, Motigbana is here raising so much dust on the dance floor.

“Motigbana” presents Olamide singing almost exclusively in Yoruba as he suggests haters have nothing against him and argues he’s
up!
