The Olubadan designate, Lekan Balogun, and the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, Daud Makanjuola Akinola, were on Sunday urged to intervene in the lingering feud among the traders in Oyo State in a bid to ensure unity and peace.

The Babaloja-General of Oyo State, Yekeen Abass made the call during his visit to the Alarere residence of the Olubadan designate with the Aare Musulumi.

Abass, who decried the rancour among the traders despite the series of peace initiatives, urged the two leaders to use their influence to broker peace within their ranks.

The Babaloja-General said, “We want unity and peace among us to ensure the development of Ibadanland and Oyo State in general.

“You are placed in vantage points to intervene in the affairs of the markets which are situated in your territories and vested with authorities to call all of us together and give us directives on what you want, which is peace and we are bound to obey you.”

Responding on behalf of the Olubadan designate, High Chief Hamidu Ajibade, thanked the Aare Musulumi and his entourage for the visit and promised that the request of the Babaloja-General would be looked into.

He urged the religious leader to give attention to the Palace of the Olubadan designate, considering his (Balogun’s) religious background as a devout Muslim.
