A five year-old boy, Oluwafemi, has allegedly sexually abused and infected his four year-old classmate, simply identified as Kemi with
gonorrhea.

Kemi’s family and guardian were shocked when a medical report revealed that she has contracted the sexually transmitted disease after she was allegedly sexually abused by her five year-old classmate, Oluwafemi.

The matter was reported at the Makinde Police Station in the Oshodi area of Lagos State.

It was gathered that the children were in the same class in a school within the community.

A resident of the area, who simply identified herself as Joke, said the minors were caught in the illicit act by their
neighbour.

“I learnt that they were caught in their parent’s parlour engaging in the act. It was after then that they were taken for medical check-up, where the gonorrhea infection case came up,” she
said.

Meanwhile, findings revealed that the four year-old victim might have been sexually abused by an unknown person before her five year-old classmate.

A social worker, who didn’t want his name mentioned, explained, “According to the report of the medical examination that was carried out, the survivor has been serially abused and has contacted gonorrhea due to the discharge from her private part.

“The disturbing issue is that she constantly mentioned the name of her 5 year-old classmate as the perpetrator. This made us suspect that there could be a twist to this case. The survivor was said to have been discharging offensive odour from her private part. As at This morning, I was shocked to hear that the discharge is actually a sign of gonorrhea.

It was also gathered that police operatives at JWC Unit at the Makinde Police Station had taken more than a passing interest in the process of unraveling the mystery behind the issue.

A police officer at the division, who pleaded anonymity, revealed, “We have decided to visit the scene of the crime; now there is need to visit the survivor’s house as a result of the gonorrhea issue because from experience, it is not possible for the five year-old to infect the survivor with such a sexually transmitted disease.”

Further findings by our correspondent revealed that the police had yet to track down the older suspect that could have earlier sexually abused the
victim.

Findings from the victim’s family revealed that she lives with her mother, who is a widow, and her grandmother, among other females living in the same compound.

Meanwhile, further findings at the minors’ school revealed that the girl had not been abused in the school before she was caught with her classmate.

Another social worker, who refused to be identified, said, “I heard this morning that the boy also has tested positive to gonorrhea, though I am still going to confirm from the police and medical people on the case and feed you
back.”

The Coordinator of the Oshodi chapter of Child Protection Network, Comrade Ebenezer Omejaile, told our correspondent that “efforts are ongoing to ensure further investigation is carried out to unravel the identity of the suspect that has serially penetrated the four-year-old girl.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, could not be reached as at press time. Calls to his phone were not answered.
