The President of the Nigerian Senate, Ahmad Lawan, on Tuesday, read an official communication from the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, requesting the National Assembly’s approval of a supplementary budget of N895bn, to the house.
The Federal Executive Council had approved the amount earlier.
The document presented to the NA showed that a large portion of the money was meant to fund the procurement of military hardware to prosecution of the war against insurgency and banditry.
It also indicated that the Federal Government was likely to expend the remaining portion on health-related issues.
