BREAKING! Veteran actor, Jimoh Aliu, dies

VETERAN Nollywood actor, Jimoh Aliu, popularly called Aworo, is dead.

Aliu, popular for his star performance in the epic TV series, Arelu and Yanpon Yanrin, among others, was said to have died at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, on Thursday, September 17, 2020, after a brief illness.

He died at the age of 86.

His remains, according to family sources, will be moved to his hometown in Okemesi Ekiti, Ekiti West Local Government Area of the state.

The former President of the Association of Nigeria Theatre Practitioners is expected to be buried on Friday, September 18.

He was said to have been producing the first of his five-movie project, Olowo Ite, before he passed on.

Born in Okemesi-Ekiti, Aliu began his acting career in 1959 after joining the Akin Ogungbe Theatre Group.

He left the group in 1966 to form his own troupe, Jimoh Aliu Concert Party, in Ikare, Ondo State.

Burial arrangements will be officially announced by the family soon, a member of the family, who spoke in confidence, said.
