Buhari appoints Lawal Special Adviser, extols Permanent Secretary on 59th birthday

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed former Permanent Secretary, Ecological Project Office, Habiba Muda Lawal, as Special Adviser to the President, Policy and Coordination.

Before retirement, Lawal had successfully supervised a team that ensured management, identification, planning and execution of projects to mitigate serious ecological challenges across the country, with commendable results.

She attended Ahmadu Bello University Zaria from 1982 to 1986 for B.Sc. Chemistry; there, she won the Nigerian Tobacco Company Prize for the Best Year II Student 1984/1985, the Imperial Chemical Industries Prize for the Best Graduating Student in Chemistry (Second Class Upper) and the Imperial Chemical Industries Prize for the Best Graduating Project 1985/1986.

In 1991, Lawal obtained a Master’s Degree in Inorganic Chemistry from ABU, Zaria and a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi (1997). She also holds Certificate in Professional and Personal Competence in Women’s Development from the University of East Anglia, Norwich, Britain.

Lawal, who served as Acting Secretary to the Government of the Federation, 19th April 2017 to 30th October, 2017, has resumed in her new office.

Also, President Buhari has joined members of staff and political appointees in the State House in congratulating the Permanent Secretary, Tijjani Idris Umar, on his 59th birthday, August 10, 2022.

The President congratulated Umar, his family, friends and professional colleagues on the auspicious occasion, while appreciating his efforts, sacrifices and dedication to effective management of the State House.

As the Permanent Secretary celebrates another age, President Buhari affirmed that Umar’s foresight and insight have made a whole difference in accommodating and providing a conducive working environment for the first and second family and political appointees, particularly the Federal Executive Council.

The President prayed for the wellbeing of the Permanent Secretary and his family.
