The Labour Party has said that the attestation certificate and confirmation of school certificate result presented to President Muhammadu Buhari by the West African Examination Council on Friday is not genuine.
The LP said that the document presented to President Buhari by WAEC Registrar, Dr. Iyi Uwadiae, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, was fraudulent and
fake.
The party said that the action was another attempt by the Presidency and ruling All Progressives Congress to deceive Nigerians into voting for Buhari in the 2019 general elections.
Recall that the President came under attack over his missing WAEC result, when the military, which he said was in possession of his certificate, later denied it, saying that Buhari’s result was not with them.
There has since been a controversy largely fueled by the opposition parties over Buhari’s academic credentials.
Buhari reportedly informed the Independent National Electoral Commission that his credentials were in possession of the military board.
Recently, the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party challenged Buhari to show proof of his integrity by presenting his academic credentials “if he has any,” to the INEC.
But speaking in an exclusive interview in Abeokuta, the Chairman of the LP in Ogun, Comrade Abayomi Arabambi, said that the certificate presented by WAEC to Buhari was fake, adding that the examination body had compromised.
Arabambi said that it was a shame for the entire nation that the President who left school decades ago was just receiving his certificate in 2018, noting that the development explained part of the reason the country was rated the poorest in the
world.
The state LP chairman, who said it was curious that Buhari he did not have photocopy of his missing certificate, wondered where WAEC got the data base to produce the certificate and result it presented to the President.
He said, “It is not admissible in law. Where did they get the data base? It is fraudulent and an attempt by the President to get himself elected in the 2019 elections.
“It is totally uncalled for that the President would be presenting 2018 WAEC certificate result for the election. This is bad for our image and economy. This explains why we are in this terrible economic situation. This explains why we are the poverty capital of the world.
“The certificate is fake because he said the original is with the Army; he does not even have the photocopy. Where did they get that certificate? Where did they get that record? They are doing this, as far as we concerned, for Buhari to win election in
2019.”
