…says speculations are mischievous

The governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee has no plan to serve out the tenure of the sacked Adams Oshiomhole-led National Executive Committee.
Former member of the House of Representatives and All Progressives Congress chieftain, Patrick Obahiagbon stated this while addressing the media on Friday, at the party’s Buhari House Secretariat, Abuja.
He said that the speculations were emanating from mischief makers whose target was to unsettle the CECPC from stabilising the party.
Obahiagbon said, “The CECPC led by governor Mai Mala Buni has no plan to stay in office till June 2022. You can see that they are working hard towards the party’s national convention which has begun with the Wards Congresses. It is work in progress, as you can see.”
The former lawmaker added that, “This CECPC is already progressing towards a National Convention and you can already see work in progress. Mischief makers and political chichidodos are just advised to stop their political mandibular walkabout and put the political jendi back in the bottle.”
Reacting to members dragging the party to court, he said the party had an internal mechanism to solve such problems and urged aggrieved members to exhaust it before washing their dirty linens in the public. He noted that the party had a comprehensive constitution that would handle such matters.
The “APC has a party Constitution and the party Constitution is quite clear on issues that have to do with the necessity of members of this political party to exhaust all domestic remedies. As to what the sanction would be, for any member of this party who has fallen short of a respecting the party’s Constitution with regards to taking the CECPC to Court. The constitutional provision is to the effect that disciplinary sanctions will have to start from the Ward of such members.
“So the CECPC will not by itself discipline any member of the political party that not been (sanctioned) from Ward, Local Government, State and to National Secretariat. But all I can tell you is that when all such activities are passed through the democratic rigours and get the National Secretariat, this CECPC under the able leadership of Governor Mai-Mala Buni, he will not shirk his responsibility, his constitutional onus probandi, he will dispense justice to all manners of men without fear or favour and in very transparent modus,” he said.
On the reconciliation of warring party faithful in Osun, Imo and Zamfara States, Obahiagbon said, “I’m aware and I do know, sir, that you are equally aware that as I speak to you now, this party inaugurated a Ward Congress Appeal Committee about a week ago and the Appeal Committee sitting over disputations and controversies that has arisen from some Wards Congresses in some states are currently sitting.
“My advice to any member of the political party who has any issue arising from the just concluded Ward Congresses, no matter his status would be to take advantage of the various Ward Congresses Appeal Committees, currently reviewing issues arising from the congresses which we have just alluded to. That is the democratic way to go.”
When asked to compare the leadership of the former chairman Oshiomhole and that of Buni, he said, “I want to say to you that the two administrations came into the life of our party at different times and different circumstances. So, there will be no basis at all for me to begin to draw comparisons. But the achievements of this Caretaker Committee, I have already stated achievements inseriatin”
Eulogising the CECPC on its achievements that has transformed the party, Obahiagbon said, “It has been a year plus that members of the CECPC were given the honour of serving our great party, the APC to pilot the affairs of the party through a testing period and organize the national convention. The members of the committee have served with great passion and commitment over the last year as they administered the affairs of the party. It is a fact too plain to be contested that the CECPC has recorded humongous achievements within a short space of time.”
He added that the secretariat and the entire members of the CECPC, have been putting their nose to the grindstone, assiduously to deliver value for every task undertaken by the committee.
