A Kano Shariah Court sitting in Hotoro Quarters has ordered the remand of a businesswoman, Hadiza Madawa, at the Correctional Centre for contempt of court.

Madawa was dragged to court by her business partners over an allegation of breach of trust.

The complainants reported to the court that they entrusted Hadiza with goods worth millions of naira and alleged that the defendant converted their money to private use.

The originating summons stated that the defendant conspired with security operatives to arrest her creditors in an effort to dissuade them from demanding for their money.

Upon her arrival in court premises, Hadiza was accused of uttering abusive words against the plaintiffs (business partners).

It was said that Hadiza rained curses on court officials who tried to caution her for abusing her business partners in court.

“The businesswoman created a scene that attracted passersby into the court premises,” the court held.

The judge, Ustaz Abdullahi Waya, ordered that the defendant should be remanded at the correctional custody and adjourned the matter for hearing.
