TIMOTHY AGBOR, OSOGBO

A 32-year-old man, simply identified as Yisa, has been arrested by operatives of the Osun Security Network, popularly known as Amotekun Corps for allegedly raping two minors.

Yisa, a butcher, was arrested on Thursday after a tip-off by the residents of Akepe area in Osogbo, the state capital where the acts were committed.

The suspect, The Point gathered, lured the two female minors, said to be daughters of different parents in the house Yisa is living, into an uncompleted building and defiled them in turn.

According to the state commander of Amotekun Corps, Bashir Adewinmbi, the victims, whose identities were hidden, are aged seven and five years.

The Point further learnt that the suspect had offered the two girls sweets before asking them to meet him at the uncompleted building.

Yisa was said to have been caught after a resident saw the minors leaving the scene one after the other.

Adewimbi said that Yisa was arrested following a tip-off from members of the Akepe area.

He said, “the investigation revealed that the suspect is highly notorious, he is a serial rapist. Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the crime.

“I want to thank the residents of the area, who informed us about the incident. I want to appreciate them for their support.”

The Amotekun commander disclosed that the suspect has been transferred to the state police for subsequent interrogation and prosecution.

Adewinmbi reiterated the commitment of the corps to fighting criminal activities in the state.

He said Amotekun would always work with other security agencies to rid the state of criminals.

“Efforts must be geared towards ensuring that the people are well-protected in conjunction with other security agencies,” the corps commander said.
