The People’s Democratic Party has released the timetable and schedule of activities for the February 3, 2024 by-elections.
Also, the All Progressives Congress has unveiled the timetable and schedule of activities for the upcoming 2024 by-elections, following the announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the National and State Assembly bye-elections.
INEC has approved a timetable for conducting by-elections resulting from the resignation or demise of members of the National and State Houses of Assembly.
The PDP timetable signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, released on Tuesday, revealed that notice of primary election and congresses to the state chapter will begin on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
The sale of nominations, expression of interest and delegate forms will begin on Thursday, December 28, 2023, and end on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
The primary election is slated for Monday, January 8, 2024, and appeals on the party primary are scheduled to be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
The party pegs the price for the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the Senate, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly at N3.5m, N2.5m and N600, 000 respectively.
The statement read, “Please note that female aspirants and persons living with disabilities are to pay for nomination forms only.
“Youths (male/female) below 40 years are to purchase Expression of Interest forms, but with a 50% discount on nomination forms.
“Please, contact the Directorate of Organisation and Mobilisation at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja for further details on how to purchase the forms.”
The APC timetable was posted on the party’s X account on Monday and signed by the APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu.
The sale of nominations, expressions of Interest, and delegate forms will begin on Wednesday, December 27th – January 2nd, 2024.
The last day for submission of completed expressions of interest, nomination forms, and delegates nomination forms with accompanying documents is Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
The primary elections will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, while the election day is Saturday, February 3, 2024.
The total price for the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the Senate, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly is N20m, N10m, and N2m respectively.
The statement noted, “Female aspirants and Persons Living with Disabilities are to purchase the Expression of Interest Form while the Nomination Form is Free.”
It also stated that youths between the ages of 25 and 40 are to purchase the Expression of Interest Form with a 50% discount on the Nomination Form.
“Expression of Interest Form and Nomination Form will be available for purchase at the Directorate of Organisation, 2nd Floor, APC National Headquarters, Wuse II, Abuja,” the statement read
