Nigeria Professional Football League champions Enugu Rangers and River United are to face tough teams in the preliminary round of the 2017 CAF Champions League championship.
Enugu Rangers have been paired with Algerian side JS Saoura, as runners-up Rivers United square up with West African neighbours AS Real de Bamako in their own preliminary round following the draw conducted by CAF on Wednesdayin Cairo.
Rivers United will meet the winner of the preliminary tie between Sony Ela Nguema of Equatorial Guinea and El-Merreikh of Sudan while Rangers have Zamalek of Egypt to contend with if they see off JS Saoura of Algeria.
In the CAF Confederation Cup, one of Nigeria’s representatives Wikki Tourists will be up against Sierra Leone opponents RSLAF FC.
Federation Cup winners FC Ifeanyiubah will have a Herculean task to edge past Egyptian side Al-Masry.
If FC Ifeanyiubah get past Al-Masry, they will meet Malian side FC Djoliba in the next round while Wikki Tourists will clash with Tunisian side Club Africain if they can shake off RSLAF.
