There was confusion in Ikorodu, Lagos State, as a two-storey building reportedly collapsed at Haruna Bus Stop, on Monday night.

Three persons were said to be missing while two others were rescued from the collapsed building.

Those who were rescued from the ruins are currently receiving medical attention at the General Hospital, Ikorodu.

Details of the incident were sketchy as of the time of filing this report but three persons were assumed to have been trapped in the rubbles.

Those in the neighbourhood were said to have mobilised to the area to engage in rescue operation after the incident occurred.

Men of the fire service and security operatives later arrived at the scene. However, it was learnt that they were unable to do much as a result of lack of equipment to lift the rubbles.

Ibrahim Farinloye, acting Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency in Lagos State, confirmed the incident.

Farinloye said that the Police, the men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, operatives of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and other relevant agencies were still searching for those who may have been trapped in the collapsed building.

He disclosed that the incident occurred around 10pm on Monday, adding that it could not be ascertained if any life was lost.

“Two people were rescued last night. Three are suspected to be missing and trapped presently,” he said.
