Court adjourns Ibadan N16bn land case to April 18

An Ibadan High Court Judge, Justice Adegboye Gbolagunte on Thursday adjourned the over N16bn land case between 22 families in Ibadan and the Oyo State Government till April 18 for the submission and adoption of addresses by the parties.

For about five years now, there has been a running legal battle over the ownership of the 404 hectares of land between National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHORT) and Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN), Idi-Ishin, Ibadan between the 22 families and the state government.

Justice Gbolagunte also struck out an application filed by one Olatunji Arulogun.

The said Arulogun had filed an application for joiner, majorly to replace the 20th claimant, Yekeen Arulogun based on his position as the Mogaji of the family, stressing that he is in the best position to serve the family interest better.

Justice Gbolagunte, in his ruling expressed the belief that the application was late in coming, explaining that both the claimants and the defendants had closed their cases and said it would amount to injustice to allow such application at that stage of the case following which he subsequently struck out the application.
