Crises rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress have thickened with the Imo State chapter of the party suspending its Ward Congresses in line with the order of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

The court in its ruling ordered the cancellation of ongoing arrangements for the Congresses slated for today (Saturday), July 31.

A statement signed by the Director General of the APC, Imo State chapter, Cajetan Duke, read that notwithstanding the discomfort that the development might have caused, as a law abiding party, the State Caretaker Committee and the leadership of the party, rising from an emergency meeting, directed that the Ward Congresses had been suspended.

The statement directed all officers, stakeholders and other members of the party to comply with the resolution by maintaining decorum and awaiting further directive from the party.

It blamed the development on enemies of the party, stating, “It is important to clarify that this temporary setback is the handwork of enemies of our party.

“We, therefore, urge our members to remain calm, law abiding and not to be irked by this unbecoming provocative activities of disgruntled elements.”
