Court remands Buhari’s associate in prison for allegedly calling for civil unrest

The Kano State Police Command has apprehended former President Buhari’s associate, Alhaji Abdulmajid Danbilki, popularly known as “Danbilki Commander’, who allegedly called for civil unrest in a Radio programme in the state.

Speaking with journalists on Wednesday in Kano, the Commissioner of Police, Husaini Gumel alleged that Danbilki’s utterances were capable of inciting people to undermine the present administration.

According to him, the suspect has since been charged to court and subsequently remanded at Goron Dutse Correctional facility.

He said, “Danbilki was remanded by Magistrate Court, which sent him to Correctional Facility, Goron Dutse, where he will stay till February 6, for determination of his bail application.”

The Commissioner of Police further revealed that the suspect featured in a local Radio station programme, and a viral video inciting people to resist any attempt by the state government to remove Alhaji Aminu Bayero as the Emir of Kano.

”Danbilki’s action is likely to incite violence in parts of the state or attract massive counter-protests that may lead to loss of lives and property.

”We have profiled the suspect and found that he had separately and severally been using the same medium to disseminate hate-speech recorded on various social and conventional media channels as a money-making venture,” the Commissioner of Police alleged.

The police boss added, “A word is enough for the wise. There is no more space for any form of criminality in our area of supervision as competent intelligence officers have been deployed in and outside the metropolis to build the confidence of the people, and beef up the desired security relentlessly.

“All we want from members of the general public is to keep volunteering information to the nearest security outfits for prompt and necessary action.”

The Commissioner of Police said the command remained committed to fighting crime and providing a safe and secure environment for everyone to enjoy in the nook and crannies of the state.

He urged Kano residents to be careful in making unguarded utterances capable of promoting and inciting violence in the state.
