Court remands man for murder in Osun

An Osun state Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, the state capital, on Thursday ordered the remand of a 34-year-old man, Saheed Adekunle, in Ilesa prison for allegedly killing another resident of the town.
Adekunle, who was dragged to the court by the police, was accused of killing one Sunday Oderinde on March 8, 2017 at the Sabo area of Osogbo.
According to the police prosecutor, Mr. Adekunle Duro, the accused committed the alleged crime in evening of that day.
The charge sheet obtained by our correspondent in court reads in part, “That you Saheed Adekunle, on 8th of March, 2017 at Sabo area of Osogbo in Osogbo Magisterial District did unlawfully kill one Sunday Oderinde.”
Duro argued that the accused committed an offence contrary to Section 316(1)  and punishable under section 319(1) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 vol. 11 Laws of Osun  State of Nigeria. 
Meanwhile, the one-count charge was not read to Adekunle owing to the severe nature of the allegation against him.
However, Chief Magistrate Adenike Olowolagba, ordered that Adekunle be remanded in prison.
She then adjourned the case till May 15, 2017 for hearing.
