Court remands notorious cultist for terrorising Osun poly community

The Police in Osun State have apprehended and dragged to a Magistrate’s Court, a suspected notorious cultist, Adedokun Saheed for terrorising Osun State Polytechnic, Iree and the entire town.

Saheed, also known as Tiro, has been allegedly terrorising Iree community in recent time until he was arrested by the Anti-Cultism Squad of the Nigeria Police, Osun State Command.

It was gathered that the State Polytechnic, in Iree had been on the trail of suspected cultist and members of his gang for years before luck ran out on him.

Having completed investigation, the police dragged Saheed before a Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ikirun on Monday over menace of cultism.

The police said his gang members were at large.

The latest of the defendant’s offences was said to have been committed on May 13, 2025 at about 2:00 a.m. in Iree alongside others who are on the run.

The police said he conspired with others to commit felony and, thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.”

The charge sheet added, “That you Adedokun Saheed, a.k.a Tiro, and others at large, on the same day, time, place and the same magisterial district, did engage yourself in unlawful society known as Eiye Confraternity and unleashed terror on Iree town and its environs and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 64 of the Criminal Code, Law of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.”

In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate A.O. Oyeniyi, ordered that the accused person be remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre pending the adjourned date.
