For allegedly robbing a businessman of two trucks worth N13 million, two middle aged men, named Musa Lawan and Ugwo Dickson, are to be remanded at the Ilesa Correctional Centre till August 9.

The police dragged Lawan and Dickson before an Osogbo Magistrate’s Court over alleged conspiracy, armed robbery and felony.

The defendants, brought to court by the operatives of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Osun State Police Command, were transferred to Abuja after their arrests were effected in Osogbo. They were later brought back to the state for prosecution.

The charge brought against them read that “Musa Lawan and Ugwo Dickson and others still at large, on October 11, 2021 at the Osogbo Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit a felony to wit, armed robbery.

“Both of you on the same date, time and place, did arm yourselves with guns and other dangerous weapons to rob one Joachim Dominic and Joshua Momoh of one Mitsubishi Truck and one Benz Truck, both valued at N13 million property of one Esohe Timothy.”

According to the police prosecutor, John Idoko, ASP, the offences contravened sections 1(1) and 1(1)(2) of Armed Robbery and FireArms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap RII, Volume 14, Laws of the Federation, 2004.

The pleas of the defendants were not taken considering the gravity of their offence.

The trial Magistrate, O. A. Daramola, ordered the prosecution to duplicate their case file and forward the same to the Director of Public Prosecution, Ministry of Justice, Osun State for legal advice.

Daramola then remanded the duo in Ilesa Correctional facility till August 9 when the legal advice would be ready.
