An Ile-Ife Magistrate’s Court in Osun state on Monday, ordered the remand of a 28-year-old woman, Nifemi Ajayi, for allegedly biting the scrotum of her neighbour, Olayera Boluwaji.

The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 24, 2021 around 8:00 pm at 21, Oke-Soda, Ile-Ife.

Osanyintuyi said that the defendant assaulted one Olayera Boluwaji by biting him on his scrotum and stomach, which caused him bodily harm.

He added that the offence contravened section 355 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol II, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to one-count charge of assault slammed against him.

The defence counsel, Mr Philip Fasanmoye, applied for the bail of the defendant in most liberal term and pledged that his client would not jump bail, but would provide reliable sureties.

Magistrate Olusola Aluko did not grant the bail of the defendant, but asked defence counsel to furnish the court with written application for consideration of her bail.

Aluko therefore ordered the remand of the defendant in Ilesa Correctional centre and adjourned the matter till November 15, for bail consideration.
