IN view of the rising cases of COVID-19 infection in the country, the Ekiti State Government has imposed a curfew, from 8pm to 6am, with effect from Monday, 11th January, 2021.
Only those on essential services are to be exempted from the curfew.
The state government said it took the decision based on the need to be proactive in protecting the citizens from the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this vein, all gatherings of more than 20 people have also been banned in the state till further notice.
The Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation, Akinbowale Omole, announced the latest measures on Sunday in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
He advised residents of the state to adhere strictly to COVID-19 protocols by wearing their face masks, washing and sanitising their hands regularly.
Like in some other states, the Ekiti government said, for religious activities, it would allow two services to take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, respectively, which must not go beyond 2pm.
The new rules will be strictly enforced, according to the Commissioner.
