A steward in the office of Mr. Philip Shaibu, Edo State Deputy Governor, has tested positive for the coronavirus disease, according to Government House sources.

This discovery, it was learnt, is now causing panic in the deputy governor’s office because the steward, simply identified as Ose, reportedly had close contact with many other members of staff in the office.

The office quarters, it was also learnt, has been evacuated as all members of staff have been asked to go for testing.

Only recently, the Edo State Government dealt with speculations that it concealed information on the status of some officials of the administration after the governor vanished from sight for several weeks despite claims that “rapid tests” he underwent returned negative.

The status of the deputy governor himself remains uncertain while efforts are being made to affirm if he will also be undergoing a test alongside his staff.
