COVID-19: Third Lagos Council boss, Oke, dies

THE Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area, in Lagos State, Babatunde Oke, is dead.

Oke reportedly died in the early hours of Wednesday as a result of COVID-19 complications.

His death brings to three, the number of Lagos council bosses that have died from COVID-19 related complications.

Sources said the deceased, a second-term council boss, had tested positive for COVID-19 and was receiving treatment at the Gbagada Isolation Centre, but had to be moved to St. Nicholas Hospital when his health deteriorated.

An employee of the Council told our correspondent that workers received the news of the death of the Council boss with shock.

“It is so sad, and the whole coronavirus thing is now very scary, and they are opening up everywhere. Our chairman was a very good man. This is a great loss to everyone,” the female worker, who asked not to be named, said.
