…Says we are not afraid of court

Embattled national chairman of the major opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, has declared that the party is bigger than any individual or group of desperadoes, adding that neither the party nor himself are afraid of court.

Secondus stated this in a reaction to a court ruling on Monday in Degema, Rivers State, restraining him from parading himself as national chairman and also suspending him as a member of the PDP.

Ike Abonyi, Special Adviser to the chairman who spoke on his behalf, said if Secondus and the party were taken to court, they would defend themselves.

He further told our Correspondent that, “It’s disheartening that the interim order of court used in removing the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, unilaterally in January, 2019, which PDP vehemently condemned, was resurrected again in Rivers State.

“PDP and Secondus are not afraid of court, this party is a child of history, owned by Nigerians, bigger than any individual including desperadoes.”

A High Court in Rivers State on Monday restrained Secondus, from further parading himself as one.

The order was given by Justice O. Gbasam at the State High Court sitting in Degema Local Government area of the state.

The judge also approved the suspension of Secondus as a member of the party pending the hearing and determination of motion on notice. The order followed a complaint brought before the court by some aggrieved members of the party.
