Cultists’ night: Fayose bans public procession

Following a concluded arrangement by a suspected secret society called Olembe to hold a night gathering and procession in the state, Ekiti State governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, has placed a blanket ban on all students’ activities, including public procession, in the state.

‘Olembe candle light’ scheduled is reportedly being held by the cult group, every seventh day of the seventh month of every year.

But Fayose in a statement signed by his Special Assistant (Public Communications and New Media), Mr. Lere Olayinka, and made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, said he was placing the ban based on security reports made available to him.

According to him, “Security operatives are to also be on red alert in Ikere-Ekiti, Ijero-Ekiti, Oye-Ekiti and other towns with high students’ activities. They are to conduct ‘stop and search’ on all vehicles within the state.

“There must be no activities of secret cults in Ekiti State henceforth, and there must no students’ procession of any form.

“Anyone found culpable in this act of using cultists to cause anarchy in the state will be dealt with decisively.

“This directive should be adhered to strictly,” Fayose added.
