Demand police investigation, if your life is threatened, APC tells OBJ

Following the alarm raised recently by former President Olusegun Obasanjo that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari was after his life, the ruling All Progressives Congress has urged Obasanjo to demand an investigation of the allegation by the police.

Obasanjo had accused the government of plotting to slam false charges on him, to pave the way for his indefinite detention.

But the APC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, told our correspondent on the phone that the former president should be interrogated over his claim that his life was being threatened.

He added that the alarm raised by Obasanjo indicated that he was dealing with a personal issue.

Abdullahi said, “Honestly, I do not know who wants to kill who. Obasanjo himself should be asked what he means and he should provide evidence of his claim. As far as I am concerned, this is not a political thing, it is a personal issue. If he feels his life is being threatened, he should go and report to the police.

“Nobody has time for anybody, there is no watch list. So, Obasanjo should report to the police if he thinks he is being threatened. Let him call for investigations by the police.”

The APC spokesperson further challenged the former president to provide the evidence of his claim that his name had been placed on a watch list.

Abdullahi added, “Also, let him bring proof of his allegations against the government. I do not know if his allegations are wrong, but anyone with allegations should provide proof of investigations.

“You said someone is after you, how did you get to know this? How did you arrive at such a conclusion?

“I do not know what watch list he is talking about, but the fundamental rule is, your life is being threatened? Report to security personnel to investigate with proof.”
