Diri tasks cabinet on performance

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has charged members of the state executive council not to forget that their performance would be the yardstick to judge their success in office.

Governor Diri stated this on Wednesday during the 85th weekly state executive council meeting in Government House, Yenagoa.

The governor urged the cabinet members to put in their best in positively projecting the image of the administration.

He, however, expressed satisfaction with the feedback on their commitment so far, saying it is an indication that the state was making good progress.

The governor charged them to do more in the second half of their third year in office, stressing that the race was not over yet.

“Your performance is the yardstick by which the generality of Bayelsans judge whether you are doing well or not. I am sure that every commissioner is putting up his best to relate with the public and also to project this administration in very good light.

“So far, the reports we have received from the public indicate that you are doing well and, by extension, we are doing well.

“So, I charge you once again that in this second half of our third year in office to do more than what you have done already. It is very likely that you will feel that you have done so much. But you are running a race and until you have crossed the line, you have won.”

Governor Diri equally thanked Bayelsans for their support to his administration and pledged that they will not fail them.

He promised to do more on human capacity building and infrastructure development within the available resources of the state.
