Our correspondent gathered that Jibrin’s removal was announced at plenary on Wednesday.
He was also immediately replaced by Mustapha Bala Dawaki (APC-Kano), who hitherto chaired the Committee on Housing.
Ji‎brin was enmeshed in a controversy following revelations that he allocated projects worth over N4billion to his Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of Kano State, during the debates on the 2016 Appropriation Bill.
Following the revelation, several members demanded his resignation but Dogara prevailed on them to sheathe their swords.
Findings, however, revealed that Jibrin was one of those who opposed the institutionalisation of immunity for principal officers of the Senate.
