Don’t blame us for your party crisis, PDP tells Osun APC chair

BY TIMOTHY AGBOR, OSOGBO

The Caretaker Chairman of Osun state Peoples Democratic Party, Akindele Adekunle has cautioned the All Progressives Congress against dragging the PDP into her internal crisis, asserting that “the PDP has no relationship with APC or its emerging internal implosion.”

A statement issued by Adekunle on Tuesday berated Osun APC chairman, Gboyega Famodun for directing aggrieved members of the APC who protested on Tuesday and demanded his removal to channel their anger to the governor-elect, Ademola Adeleke whom he said APC members loyal to Rauf Aregbesola voted for during the just concluded governorship election.

“We find it preposterous for the APC Chairman to be blaming PDP for its leadership conflict. We have no allies within APC and we have no hand in the alleged planned local and national demonstration. We are a party in opposition for the past 12 years now voted into office by the good people of Osun state,” Adekunle said.

According to the PDP chairman, the statement from Famodun is a fruitless effort to paint PDP in bad light especially on a matter that is solely an internal affairs of the APC.

“If a faction of APC is pushing for change of leadership, what has that got to do with the PDP? If a faction felt Oyetola’s hold on the party should come to an end, why should PDP be added as an actor?”, Adekunle queried.

The party chairman clarified further that no PDP member is planning to join any factional APC in anti-Oyetola demonstration: “Election has come and gone. Senator Ademola Adeleke is the Governor-elect, waiting to assume office. We are not interested in creating any chaos or disturbance of public peace.

“We task the APC to put its house in order and not constitute nuisance to the public,” the party chief noted.

He reassured people of Osun state of the preparedness of the governor-elect to hit the ground running, noting that the party and Adeleke would not disappoint the good people of Osun.
