A high drama played out at Magodo Phase 2 Estate, Lagos, on Tuesday, as policemen who had laid siege to the estate for about two weeks rebuffed the order of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to vacate the estate.
Earlier in the day, Magodo residents had staged a protest over the presence of policemen in the estate.
Consequently, Governor Sanwo-Olu waded into the lingering land dispute in the area and invited all parties involved for a meeting in his office tomorrow, Wednesday.
The governor’s order for the police to leave the area was however rebuffed as the leader of police team insisted that they were there on the orders of both the Inspector General of Police and the Attorney General of the Federation.
According to a video shared by Mojeed Jamiu, a resident of the estate, a livid Sanwo-Olu therefore ordered the police leader to call the Inspector General of Police that the governor was in front of him.
But the leader of the police team also refused saying, he is too small to call the Inspector General of Police, adding that the governor should call the Inspector General of Police himself.
The leader of the police team also refused the governor’s question on the number of policemen on assignment in the estate, saying it is improper to divulge such security information.
An obviously angry Governor Sanwo-Olu later left the venue, promising the protesting residents that he would make the necessary calls in earnest.
