OPERATIVES of the Department of State Services have arrested some people for allegedly impersonating the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

The operatives arrested one Aminat Jimoh, Olalekan Oladehinbo Adenuga, and others.

The Lagos State office of the DSS was said to have effected the arrests.

It was investigating the forging of the official letterhead and signature of the Speaker by the suspects who allegedly used the forged documents to defraud unsuspecting individuals and organisations.

Adenuga, one of those arrested, had reportedly introduced the other suspect, Aminat, to Messr Caverton Helicopters at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos for employment.

He forged a letter, acting as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, recommending Aminat for employment at Caverton.

The letter, referenced, NASS/ FAG/REC/001, dated April 15, was received by Caverton Helicopters on April 20, 2021.

It was addressed to the Managing Director.

“I write to introduce and recommend Aminat Oluwabukola Jimoh who is seeking employment into your organisation. She is a self-motivated and creative individual and I am sure she would be of great benefit to your establishment if given the opportunity.

“Kindly give her application special consideration for employment.

“While I look forward to a favourable response from you, please accept the assurances of my esteemed regards,” the letter read.

Following several complaints to the Office of the Speaker regarding people who were seeking employment in his name, the office wrote a letter, dated April 22, requesting DSS to initiate an investigation.

DSS operatives launched an investigation into the matter, which led to the arrest of the two suspects and others.

Spokesperson for Gbajabiamila, Lanre Lasisi, confirmed the incident.
