Eagles step up preparations for Russia 2018

Deportivo de La Coruña goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho might be the chosen one in goal for the Super Eagles ahead of the FIFA World Cup holding in Russia between June 14 and July 15, as he continues to post superlative performance in trainings.

Prior to the Eagles’ international friendly against Congo in Port Harcourt, the coaches spent extra practice time with him and perfecting his skills, especially on how to goal-kick.

The Point gathered that Gernot Rohr and his lieutenants did a lot of talking to William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun to help improve their communication in defense so that the unit can function well.

The two central defenders who were first choice during the World Cup qualifiers performed admirably in the workout ahead of the game in Port Harcourt.

Meanwhile, there are fears on Gent winger Moses Simon, who is currently suffering what appears to be a thigh injury.

The winger had to be replaced by Leicester City striker Ahmed Musa for the remainder of the practice game in his first training on arriving Port Harcourt.

If training session is anything to go by, three players on the 30-man preliminary roster have their starting spots in Russia confirmed.
