MOBILE courts in Ebonyi State are set to commence trial of COVID-19 related offences.

The Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State and Chairman, State Task Force on COVID-19, Kelechi Igwe, disclosed this while flagging off the second round of campaign against the virus at the Margaret Umahi International Market, Abakaliki.

He stressed the need for residents of the state to comply strictly with COVID-19 protocols by putting on their face masks, washing their hands regularly with soap, and using alcohol-based hand sanitisers, among others.

He warned that any resident who contravened the law would be handled in line with the provisions of the law.

Igwe said commencement of the aggressive campaign had become expedient to contain the spread of the second wave of the pandemic.

The Deputy Governor noted that the campaign would be taken to all public places such as markets, schools and worship houses.

Igwe, who also led the campaign to Iyimagu Primary school, Azuiyiokwu, assured that Government had put in place other measures to contain the spread of the disease and distributed face masks to the traders and pupils visited.
