Ebonyi PDP chairman suspended

The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party on Friday announced the suspension of the Ebonyi State Chapter chairman of the party, Tochukwu Okorie, for alleged anti-party activities and breach of the party’s constitution.

Debo Ologunagba, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Friday.

He said the decision to suspend Okorie was reached at the emergency meeting of the NWC held on January 27, 2023.

He said the party extensively reviewed the conduct and activities of Okorie and consequently suspended him.

“Pursuant to Sections 29 (2) (b) and 57(3) of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017) the NWC has on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC) approved the suspension of Okorie Tochukwu Okoroafor with effect from today, Friday, January 27, 2023, over allegations of anti-party activities and violation of provisions of Section 58 (1) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017),” the statement reads in part

The party spokesman further disclosed that Okorie had been referred to the party’s appropriate Disciplinary Committee for further action.
