Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, on Tuesday, held a virtual meeting with representatives of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund on collaborative strategies for the Federal Government’s economic stimulus packages.
The Economic Sustainability Committee, inaugurated earlier this month, and led by the VP, had said it was working on a stimulus package that would help the economy exit global recession.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, said on his Twitter handle on Tuesday that his boss had been holding a meeting with the Bretton Woods institutions on Nigeria’s planned economic stimulus.
The post was accompanied by a video, showing the VP in a video conference.
“VP Osinbajo has been busy today holding video conference-based meetings with IMF and World Bank representatives on how the agencies can collaborate with President Buhari’s forthcoming additional economic stimulus packages. Video shows just-concluded meeting with World Bank Nigeria reps,” he tweeted.
The IMF had warned earlier that Nigeria’s economy would slide by 3.4 per cent in 2020.
