Eid-el Kabir: Ajimobi calls for prayers for pilgrims’ safe return

  • Preaches love, togetherness

The Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has urged the country’s Muslim community to imbibe the spirit of togetherness, peaceful co-existence and love towards one another as exemplified by THE Holy Prophet, Muhammed (SAW).

Governor Ajimobi also called for fervent prayers for pilgrims to the Holy Land, as they proceed to Mount Arafat for prayers on Sunday, to have a hitch-free session and return to their respective countries in good health.

In his congratulatory message to the Islamic adherents on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el Kabir festival, the governor said that it was only in an atmosphere of peace and love that people could thrive and attain their potential.

A statement by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Mr. Yomi Layinka, said that the country needed these attributes to achieve the desired greatness.

Ajimobi commended the people of the state for their understanding and continued support for his administration in its quest to redefine governance and take the state to greater heights.

The governor said, “I want to assure the citizenry that this administration will continue to introduce people-friendly policies and explore other avenues that would bail the state out of its current economic doldrums.

“Let me also enjoin our Muslim brothers and sisters to remember those in the Holy Land in their prayers as they proceed to Mount Arafat to have a peaceful and accident-free prayer session.

“We should pray for the safe return of those on holy pilgrimage to Mecca, as well as for other Muslims from every part of the world. Let us use the period of this festival to pray for the peace, progress and economic emancipation of our dear country.

“I enjoin you to continue to exhibit love towards your fellow human beings and re-dedicate yourselves to the service of Almighty Allah and humanity, as demonstrated by Prophet Muhammed (SAW) during his earthly sojourn.”
