#EndSARS: 15 arraigned over membership of IPOB, riot in Ebonyi

FIFTEEN  men between the ages of 20 and 40 have been arraigned by the Nigerian Police before a Magistrate’s court sitting in Abakaliki for membership of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra and involvement in riot in the state.

The suspects include Nwani Chibuike, aged 27; Uguru Ifeanyi, 38 years; Njoku Chunks, 27; Onyebuchi Oguji, 26; Nnandi Ikebuaso, aged 38; Andrew Nwoga, 35; Emeka Abba, 30; Njoku Mathew, 28; Egbe Daniel, 20; and Sopuruchi Ikeji, 20 years old.

Others are Nweke Sunday, 20; Nnaji Sunday, 28; Chidiebere Igboke, 20; Sunday Oshine, 27; and Uchechukwu Onuzuruike, aged 16 years.

They were all accused in a three-count charge, in suit number MAB/531C/2020, of membership of the proscribed IPOB and causing riot at Onuebonyi junction axis of the state capital on November 2, 2020, irrespective of warnings.

The defence counsel, Chinedu Nwangwu, prayed for bail of the defendants since the offence was bailable and all were presumed innocent till otherwise proven by a court of competent jurisdiction.

The trial Magistrate, Chukwudi Igboji, after due consideration of the matter, granted the defendants bail in most liberal terms as the case was adjourned to 18th November for hearing.
