Residents of Ogun State have scored the government low for allegedly failing to meet their demands one year after the #EndSARS protest in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

Those who spoke with THE POINT on Wednesday noted that nothing had really changed in the country as the Federal Government did not show genuine commitment to the plights of the citizens.

Akeem Adegbenro, a journalist, said that “Despite the #EndSARS protests and the call for police brutality to stop, the demands have not been met.

“Citizens demanded that police welfare should be taken care of, their salary should increase and the barracks should be renovated, but one year after the #EndSARS protest, we see that there is still increase in police brutality and the welfare of the police has not been taken care of.

“It is very unfortunate because you will realize that the more you try to suppress the citizens, the more you try to silence them, the more the agitations.”

Another resident of the state, Ejalonibu Oluwatosin, said, “In the past one year, the economy has not improved. Things are not getting better. We are talking about good governance, which of the demands has the Federal Government met?

“I’m not a government official. Nigerians are not asking government to perform miracles, they are just demanding that the Federal Government should take some steps in the right direction.”
