Former governor of Akwa Ibom state and minister of Niger Delta, Senator Godswill Akpabio has described the insecurity bedeviling the country as a handiwork of enemies within who are bent on destroying Nigeria and added that without President Muhammadu Buhari they would have achieved their evil desire.
Senator Akpabio said those bemoaning both the security and economic situations in the country should thank God for giving the country Muhammadu Buhari as President because the situations would have been worse if he was not the President.
“We are grateful to God for the President in the person of Muhammadu Buhari he gave us. God endowed him with wisdom which he is leading this country with in this time of turbulence. If not the gift of President Buhari the country would have been worse than what it is now. So I plead with those saying things are not working in some certain sectors to be grateful to God because of the man of integrity, man of honour in the person of President Buhari.
“I am assuring all and sundry that President Buhari will certainly lead us to the promised land we are longing for and that is the reality. All we need to do is to be patient and join hands with this rare blessing, a man of integrity and honour God has given to us and we will certainly overcome these turbulence situations,” he said.
He added that “It would have been worse if we did not have President Buhari at this time. Just imagine what would have happened. It would have been worse if we did not have a man of integrity at the saddle of leadership at this time in Nigeria. Just imagine what would have happened to Nigeria with the kind of enemies within and without. People conspiring against the country but I give you my word that God is not sleeping. God is a Nigerian. God will salvage Nigeria with the prayers offered by both the Christians and the Moslems in a concurrence of the Lent and the Ramadan.”
The former governor encouraged Nigerians to keep faith and hope alive saying that the future is bright.
“I see a great future. I see a better future for the good people of this country, for the APC and the continuity of this government beyond 2023.”
The minister who joined other APC faithfuls at the breaking of Ramadan fast organised by the Party’s national secretariat in honour of the National Working Committee led by former governor Abdullahi Adamu also said the event which attracted top party dignitaries is an indication that the APC is a united party.
“Of course what you saw here was like a national prayer session but it was actually a breaking of fast organised by the APC Secretariat in honour of the Working Committee led by former governor and Senator Abdullahi Adamu and of course you saw the calibre of persons that turned up which is a great belief in the party. My presence here and others signify that we have confidence in the party. And we have confidence in our national leader President Muhammadu Buhari.”
The former governor of Akwa Ibom state maintained that the unity of the ruling party is key to the success it will record in the forthcoming general elections in 2023 and added that the coming of Senator Adamu has eliminated factions in the party.
