An alleged serial paedophile, Michael Chukwuemeka, has been arrested by the police for defiling two of his nieces and a housemaid in the Ikorodu area of Lagos.
Our correspondent gathered that the paedophile, who is now in police net, was arrested after the mother of one of the victims, Mrs. Delight Iwe, was informed by her 11-year-old daughter, Rejoice, that Chukwuemeka had been having sex with her every Saturday and Sunday.
It was also gathered that the suspect, who is a worker in an oil company at Festac, Lagos, had earlier defiled another niece of his, simply identified as Favour, while squatting with the family of the eight-year-old girl.
Chukwuemeka was said to have forced the victims to have oral sex with him before he forcibly penetrated them.
A resident of the area, who spoke with our correspondent, Josephine Uba, said the suspect penetrated the 11-year-old victim in December last year.
“The man is nothing but evil. Imagine him sleeping with all the children in the family. It is as if he is possessed or having a psychological problem. He slept with two nieces and even the housemaid. If not for Rejoice that summoned the courage to tell her mother, the thing would not have been revealed,” Uba said.
Meanwhile, a social worker, Mrs. Mary-Ann, has disclosed that one of the girls violated by Chukwuemeka had already been diagnosed with a sexually transmitted disease.
According to her, the result of tests on the girl carried out at the Mirabel Centre of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, revealed that the suspect had penetrated the victim several times.
“Mrs. Delight Iwe reported to us that her 11-year-old daughter, Rejoice, had been defiled by her brother-in-law. She couldn’t afford to send the child to school and since the brother-in-law said he needed assistance for his mother, who lives in Ikorodu, and also promised to send the girl to school, she released her daughter to them in October 2017,” she said.
The girl, however, was not enrolled in any school.
But when the victim came home on vacation, she informed her mother about Chukwuemeka’s’s action. The suspect, who works in Festac Town, had been visiting Ikorodu every weekend to defile the girl.
Mary-Ann said, “He (Chukwuemeka) would trap the girl and try to force his manhood into her, and according to the girl, he would pour something white on the floor before he would let go of her. On Saturday and Sunday, each weekend, he would do the same. He would tell her that her cousin named “Precious” was more cooperative than she was and would add that Precious’ private part was already open and that she now even begged him for it every day. Precious is his wife’s niece.”
It was also learnt that the suspect lives in Festac Town with his wife’s brother (Precious’s father) from Monday to Friday and returns to Ikorodu on weekends. He sleeps in the sitting room with his brother’s three daughters.
According to Rejoice, Michael eventually penetrated her sometime last December.
On how Chukwuemeka was arrested, Mary-Ann said, “We tricked him into coming for a fake job interview, and got policemen from Adeniji Adele to pick him up. He vehemently denied the allegation and even threatened to sue us if he was found innocent. He also asked for a DNA test. He was quite full of himself. We took Rejoice to Mirabel Center, where it was confirmed that she had been penetrated and that she had an STD. My team and I have arranged to pick up the other cousin, Precious, so as to take her to Mirabel Center as well.
But the victim’s mother said she released her daughter to her brother-in-law and his wife, when they requested that she should come over to assist their mother.
She said, “Chukwuemeka was caught sleeping with their housemaid before the mother-in-law drove her away and then he pleaded for my daughter.
“Initially, I didn’t want to release her, but for the fact that I lost my job and I could not afford to send her to school again.”
She said she was shocked when her daughter told her how she was being sexually molested by her brother-in-law on weekends.
“I found it hard to believe until police arrested him and the medical test confirmed that he did it,” she said.
It was also gathered that the suspect was also in the habit of sucking his four-month-old son’s male organ.
“They had a house help before, he was sleeping with her. So, his wife chased her away and brought her own niece, thinking he wouldn’t do the same to her. The man even sucks his 4-month-old son’s penis pretending to be playing with the baby,” another resident of the area alleged.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Chike Oti, said, “Investigation is ongoing on the case and any moment from now, the suspect will be in court for his action.”
