A 45-year-old man, Tunde Adekunle, has been arraigned at a Magistrate Court in Osogbo, Osun State, for allegedly breaking into a shop and stealing some food items.

The Police in the state said that Adekunle, father-of-three, committed the offence at about 12am, on January 8, at Bolanle area, Osogbo.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Elisha Olusegun, informed the court that Adekunle broke into a shop belonging to a female trader, Fadele Ayodele, to steal.

Olusegun alleged that the defendant carted away goods, including a bag of 10kg of semovita, 1kg of semovita, 37 sachets of indomie, five sachets of spaghetti, three stock fish, two 2kg bags of wheat, and other food items.
The alleged stolen items, property of Ayodele, were valued at N120, 000.

The prosecutor said that the offences by the defendant contradicted Section 383(1) and punishable under sections 516, 411(1)(2), and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34 Vol II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

Adekunle entered into a not guilty plea to the three-count-charge slammed against him. His counsel, Najite Okobe, applied for bail for him, praying the court to release him on liberal terms.

Magistrate A. O. Odeleye granted the accused person bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety. The surety, the magistrate said, should be a landed property owner within the state and the property must be verified by the prosecutor.
The matter was adjourned till February 15 for hearing.
