The Federal Government has declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid el-Kabir celebration.
This was announced in a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior and signed by its Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, on Monday.
The minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulating Muslims across the country and in the diaspora on the occasion.
Tunji-Ojo called on the Muslim faithful to “continue to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and faith as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him)” and to use the period to pray for “a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.”
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering reforms that are focused on improving the lives of Nigerians under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to the Minister, these “people-oriented reforms and initiatives” are aimed at restoring Nigeria to the path of progress.
While extending his best wishes to Muslims for a joyful Eid-ul-Adha celebration, Tunji-Ojo urged all Nigerians to support the efforts of the current administration in its bid to “restore the glory of Nigeria as a great nation.”
