Film maker, Egbegbe, unable to meet bail conditions

Two months after he was remanded in Ikoyi Prison, alleged serial fraudster, Olajide Oluwaseun Kazeem, popularly known as Seun Egbegbe, has yet to perfect his bail conditions.

Kazeem, according to prison sources, may suffer something untoward unless urgent help comes his way regarding the perfection of his bail conditions.

The Ebony Films Productions boss, who was granted bail about a month ago, alongside his accomplice, Oyekan Ayomide, is said to be worried that the N5million bail, which he was granted since February 24, 2017, is too high for him to pay.

A close associate of Egbegbe, who pleaded anonymity, said, “Where do they expect him to get the sureties who would leave their passport and certificate of occupancy with the court until the case, which may last four years, ends?

“Who will risk losing N2.5 million as surety for a case that has not even really started?”

In his pronouncement. while ruling on Egbegbe’s bail application in February, Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo, had said that the suspect and his accomplice, who were arrested for defrauding some Bureau De Change operatives at Gbagada in Lagos, should remain in police custody until their they perfected their bail conditions.

Justice Oguntoyinbo had ruled, “Both accused should be granted bail of N5million with two sureties each in a sum of N2.5million. That is four sureties altogether. One of the sureties must be a civil servant, who has attained level 16 while the other surety must be a landowner in any part of Lagos metropolis.

“The landowner must submit Certificate of Ownership of the landed property, while the civil servant must submit his international passport to the court. The four sureties must swear to an affidavit while the house and office addresses and telephone numbers will be verified by the court.”
