Fintiri honours youths, women

As INEC lift ban on campaign nationwide, the Adamawa Peoples’ Democratic Party’s Governorship flag bearer, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has officially flagged-off his campaign giving the youths and women upper hand in his administration if voted into power come 2019 general elections.

 

Ahmadu Fintiri who dropped the hint at a press conference at the Atiku Abubakar Campaign office in Yola, unveiled his eleven point agenda for the state.

 

He said his government will give preferences to education and youth empowerment programs including women, by making deliberate policy in building peaceful environment.

 

“This is done through, among other strategies by engaging the youth and women to be gainfully productive and responsible by giving them skills and the required support,” he said

 

Fintiri also promised that his government will prioritise Education and develop a sustainable students’ support arrangement for both secondary and tertiary tiers of education and also for professional programmes like agriculture, engineering, medicine and law.

 

He further explained that the development of health and hygiene system via cottage and Primary Health Care will also be prioritised.

 

According to him, his government will improve water and sanitation awareness and provide phase water schemes across the 21 local government areas of the state.

 

He said that his government will also rationalise and enhance technical and vocational centres , skills acquisition and training centres in the three Senatorial districts of the state.

 

Fintiri said rural development shall be pursued strategically through rural and community linkages by constructing of all -weather roads.

 

He called on the PDP stakeholders to go out and campaign for the success of the party in the state.

 

According to him, “The level of poverty, poor school enrollment and transition, infant and maternal mortality, the drug epidemic and other development indices all speak to this unfolding disaster”.

He lamented that the lack of sincerity and transparency in governance has completely paralyzed development and gone to such astonishing height that it has become a reference point
